Comcast acquires DreamWorks for $3.8 billion

Comcast (CCV), NBCUniversal division, recently announced that it has offered to buy DreamWorks Animation Studios for approximately $3.8 billion. DreamWorks is said to receive $41 per stock, up 50% from the previous week. Comcast announced that the deal get underway towards the end of 2016 and said that DreamWorks would become part of its group, of which includes various divisions such as: Universal Pictures, Fandango and NBCUniversal Brand Development among others.

Meanwhile, the CEO of DreamWorks, Jeffrey Katzenberg, announced that he would step down at the during the year, but will be present and still remain involved with the business related side of DreamWorks, in particular: Awesomeness TV and NOVA and act as a consultant to NBCUniversal. The formerly mentioned's CEO, Steve Burke welcomed the move and said that the new acquisition could help the company grow in the long term.
