Johnson & Johnson close a $4.3 billion deal with Abbot Medical Optics

On Friday Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) announced that it would buy the eye care unit, Abbot Medical Optics of Abbott Laboratories (ABT) for $4.3 billion. The acquisition comes at a time when Johnson & Johnson is expanding its operation into the eye health market, which include cataract surgery and laser refractive surgery. Since the eye- healthcare market is rapidly expanding, it only makes sense that the company gain a foothold in the market by this acquisition and eventually become a leader in the field.
